Vicki Dyar
Psychotherapist
ABOUT ME
I want our work to be meaningful and effective. I offer a compassionate, authentic, and integrated approach to psychotherapy. My style is eclectic and supportive. I pull from a myriad of therapuetic therories (CBT, DBT, MI, Relational) to find the best approach to help individuals in various kinds of distress to both relieve pain and address the issues causing suffering. In a safe space, we can collaboratively consider the meaning and impact of your experiences.
Professional Experience
For the past 30 years I have worked in a variety of mental health treatment settings working with children, adolescents and adults. From 1993 through 2014 I worked at the APT Foundation. I held the positon of Program Director for 17 years prior to my relocation to CA in 2014. In this position I worked primarily with individuals with substance use issues, many struggling with severe depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, psychosis, borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, suicidality and self-injurious behaviors. I relocated to southern CA in 2014 where I was hired to develop and open an evidenced based treatment program for men. In 2016, I joined The Cafferty Clinic to pursue my real passion, working one on one with adults and adolescents to improve their self-awareness, develop insight, and learn new ways of coping with life stress to facilitate healing and growth. This year I opened my own practice in Carlsbad Village.
